Apple crumble

I love this recipe. I've lost the count of times I made it along the years. So simple and yet so full of flavors!

Ingredients

4 apples diced (with or without skin, your choice!)

1 lemon juice (and little bit of the zest grated if using organic lemon)

1 tbs ground cinnamon

½ cup butter or ghee (room temperature but not melted)

½ cup of oat or wheat flour

½ cup of almond meal

½ cup of rolled oats (or a classic granola if desired)

2 tbs of brown sugar or jaggery

a pinch of sea salt

Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Mix the apples with the lemon juice and cinnamon. Then place them into small oven-safe containers (or in a large baking plate).

In a separate bowl, mix the butter (or ghee) with all other ingredients using the tips of your fingers to form a crumbling dough. Crumble it over the small bowls (or the big plate) with the apple mixture.

Bake until the apples are soft and the crumble crispy (around 30 minutes). Serve warm or cold, for breakfast or dessert.

Variations

Add chunks of walnuts or sliced almonds to the crumble mix; mix the apples with other fruits like pears or plums. Add some blueberries or raisins. Mix a little pinch of nutmeg, cloves or vanilla powder to the crumble mixture, etc.
